For When You Can't Decide What to Watch on Netflix...
20:23:00
As many of us do these days, I have a love affair with Netflix, if it didn't exist I'd still be oblivious to some of (in my opinion), the greatest TV shows ever to grace the screens. In this post, I'll be listing my favourite series and talking about why I love them so much.
(I would say, "in no particular order", but they are definitely in a particular order.)
Breaking Bad
This has to be my favourite series of all time. I've never watched and enjoyed a full series from start to finish and loved it so much. If you don't know much about this series, it's about an average Chemistry teacher who falls ill with lung cancer, he can't afford to pay for his medical bills and seeks the help of an old drug dealing/meth making student of his. This idea sparks after observing his brother in law, who works for the DEA, on a drug bust.
Admittedly, the first 2/3 series are a tad boring at some points, but at the same time I just couldn't stop watching! There's always something exciting going on, cliffhangers and so much character development which is something I adore in a series.
I also feel that the chemistry (if you've watched Breaking Bad, I hope you're laughing at my unintended pun) between the characters is amazing! The relationship between Walt and Jesse is a rollercoaster to watch, and the acting from Bryan Cranston couldn't be better. Definitely one to give a whirl if you haven't already, I loved it so much I got a quote from it tattooed on me!
Dexter
Okay, so I'm only halfway through Dexter, but I can already say that without a doubt it deserves second place in this list. I was so hesitant to start watching it, because its 8 seasons long, and I thought it would be such a chore to get through it all. But no way. I'm about to finish season 4 and I wish I wasn't edging this close to the end. I watch it with my boyfriend, although he's already seen it, he likes to re-watch (we did the same with Breaking Bad), so we only watch it when we're together. Which means that sometimes I have to wait days before I get to find out what happens next, a total killer when it ends on a cliffhanger!
By day, Dexter is a Blood Spatter Analyst in the homicide department of Miami Metro Police, but by night he is a serial killer who only kills those who have killed. To watch the situations Dexter gets into his fascinating, working so closely with the people who are hunting murders is super intense, but it also gives him all the right information to do what he needs to do.
I love Dexter because every season is different, in each one Dexter faces a new obstacle in his way, and things get super intense very often! His character is so smart and witty, and whilst there are some gruesome scenes, there are also some hilarious ones to balance it out.
Unlike Breaking Bad, this series is great right from the get-go. I was hooked within the first few episodes and the storylines are just getting better and better. And although every season is different, they all still interlink, and things always seem to pop back up. I might also, maybe, possibly, have a tiny little crush on Michael C. Hall who plays Dexter.
The Walking Dead
It's been so long now since I watched The Walking Dead from the beginning, there are currently 5 seasons, however, season 6 starts on the 11th October. (12th for us here in the UK, SO EXCITING! It's getting so good.) This is pretty similar to Breaking Bad, the first few seasons aren't great, but I've found that I only realise that they're not as good after I've watched them, because I tend to compare them to the more recent storylines, and to be honest, I just don't like the majority of the characters in the first few series.
I'm yet to watch the likes of American Horror Story and Game of Thrones, simply because I've been so caught up in these three! I'm also a huge wimp when it comes to scary films/programmes, so American Horror Story might not even make it onto one of my Netflix lists.
I did also attempt to watch Pretty Little Liars but I couldn't seem to get into that, I swear I'm a boy when it comes to TV and films! Also, I was super addicted to the first two series of Orange is the New Black, but when the third series came out, all of my interest in it had disappeared.
What are your favourite shows or series? I'd love to know in the comments so that I can add them to my mental list of things to watch!
