My Favourite Horror Films!

19:38:00

As it's Halloween tomorrow, I thought I'd share with you some of my favourite scary and Halloween themed films! Bear in mind that I am the worlds biggest wuss and I get scared of almost everything. So to all you hardcore horror film lovers out there, pls don't laugh.

1) The Saw Series
I LOVE THESE FILMS. It seems that I can deal with gore, just not anything to do with spirits, devils and poltergeists. So these are perfect for me. It's nothing to do with ghosts and its all about gruesome traps and has hardly any jumpy parts, which is also a plus. I also love how much all of the films interlink, its such a clever storyline and I've actually heard that they're going to bring out and 8th film next October. *Screams internally with excitement!* I also heard that they want to make it a trilogy, so 8, 9 and 10!!

2) Unfriended
This is a fab film! It is kind of poltergeistey and demonic I think, but you don't actually see anything creepy, its all just gorey happenings involving the characters. The whole film is shown as if you're on a Macbook, which is a strange layout for a film but its really good. Love this one and definitely think it's one to watch!

3) The Nightmare Before Christmas
I wasn't sure whether this classes as a Halloween or a Christmas film. But this is a great one to watch with children, the songs are fun and the storyline between Jack and Sally is so cute!

4) The Purge & The Purge Anarchy
Its been a while since I watched these two films, the first one is a little gorey and is just really tense all the way through. As for the second one, I don't remember it being that gorey, just a few jumpy parts. Definitely a good one for if you're really not keen on the spirit/ghost side of horrors!

5) You're Next
This is another gorey one and thats the main reason I love it. No spirits or devils here, which means I can watch without being worried that I won't sleep for weeks. This one is strange because the whole way through I was trying to guess what had happened, I feel like I figured it out halfway through but I was also shocked to find out that I was actually right!

6) The Shining
Ahh yes, the old classic. I'm not even sure if this one is ghostly or not. Either way it doesn't creep me out at all, and I love the acting from Jack Nicholson. He plays an insane, psychopathic character far too well. Its great because its so old and you feel like you've time-travelled to the 80's! Its a bit long winded but I feel like everyone needs to see this film at some point in their life. It's a little jumpy and lots of very fake looking blood swishing around, but nothing too gruesome.

7) Insidious & Insidious 2
Okay, I wouldn't call either of these a favourite as such, but they've made it onto my list because I was pretty impressed with the story lines. I just cannot be doing with that stupid devil face. It actually has me on edge for weeks.

So that was my little list of favourites, just in time for Halloween!

P.S. I have actually watched The Conjuring, Annabelle, and Sinister and all of them had me sleep deprived for more than a month.

Let me know in the comments what your favourite horror films are, and if you can recommend any gorey ones!!

  3. Oh god yes! The Shining is such a classic! I also really enjoyed You're Next - such a good story and so well done. If you like that, I'd totally recommend Housebound (it's on Netflix) and a million other ones. It's always so great to find a fellow horror fan :) xx
